April 13th, 2026, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania – Azania Bank has officially launched a new digital payment service known as Azania Lipa, as part of its strategy to enhance financial services through technology and provide greater convenience to its customers.
Azania Lipa is a modern system that enables customers to make payments using QR codes and payment numbers (till numbers). The system is designed to integrate banking services, mobile networks and merchants into one efficient platform.
Speaking during the launch, the Head of Strategy and Innnovation, Mr. Jackson Lohay, stated that the introduction of Azania Lipa marks an important step in the Bank’s digital transformation journey.
“For several years now, Azania Bank has invested in building a strong digital service ecosystem including Mobile Banking, Internet Banking, WhatsApp Banking and the Azania Agency network. Azania Lipa adds value to these services by making payments even more convenient for customers and merchants,” he said.
He added that the service aims to enhance financial inclusion, support business growth and reduce the use of cash in daily transactions.
For merchants, Azania Lipa provides a secure and simple solution for receiving payments, reduces the risks associated with handling cash and improves business efficiency. Additionally, the service has no registration fees, works across all mobile networks and multiple banks, and does not charge transaction fees for Azania Bank customers.
The bank has encouraged merchants, entrepreneurs and the general public to adopt Azania Lipa to benefit from its convenience, security and efficiency.
