4 February 2026 Azania Bank with Mixx by Yas, officially launched MCHANGO, a digital social fundraising platform designed to modernize Tanzania’s long-standing tradition of “kuchangiana”. The product was unveiled at Mixx by Yas Headquarters in Dar es Salaam.
MCHANGO is embedded within the Mixx Super App and enables users to create verified fundraising accounts, receive contributions from all mobile networks and banks and track all donations digitally in real time.
Social fundraising plays a vital role in Tanzanian communities, supporting weddings, funerals, medical needs and other social causes. However, traditional methods such as cash collections, WhatsApp groups and manual mobile transfers often lack transparency and efficiency. MCHANGO addresses these challenges by offering a secure, accessible and fully digital solution.
This launch marks the third product partnership between Azania Bank and Mixx by Yas, following the successful rollout of Bustisha and Nivushe Plus, both digital lending solutions. MCHANGO is also the first savings-focused product jointly developed, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing financial inclusion through innovation.
Speaking at the launch, Mr. Vinesh Davda, Senior IT Manager at Azania Bank, highlighted the importance of blending technology with financial governance to create solutions that reflect real community needs. Ms. Angelica Pesha, CEO of Mixx by Yas, emphasized the role of digital platforms in transforming traditional practices into secure and modern experiences.
